eyewear ad banned in italy

After being published last month in three Italian magazines, the country's advertising watchdog, the Institute for Advertising Self-Discipline (IAP) has banned Tom Ford Eyewear ads. This specific image, showing a sunglasses-wearing woman with a man's finger in her mouth was ruled "markedly vulgar" because the "scene evokes an offending and abusive act against women, which degrades the dignity of the person." On the Tom Ford website, the entire collection of Spring 2008 ads are acknowledged to be sexually explicit.

You can find the ad plastered on billboards all over Los Angeles. It’s hard to miss the one on Sunset, just West of Sunset Plaza, as most of the billboards in that area are currently advertising designer sunglasses.

For all the sexually explicit images, check out the Tom Ford website: http://www.tomford.com/en/

the scent of the beach

The fresh smell of the ocean water is captured and bottled in the line of scented products called beach from Bobbi Brown. The amazing beach line includes a light mist, body lotion, shower gel, body oil and body scrub that will make your body feel as though you just left the ocean water.

This mist is a refreshing lightweight mixture of sand jasmine, sea spray and mandarin that can be worn while at the beach or afterwards to extend your beach experience!

This phenomenal body lotion moisturizes your thirsty skin but also prevents the o-so irritating peeling.

Hands down this silky soft shower gel is enriched with Pacific Sea Kelp Extract creates the ever-lasting silkiness all over your body after you shower.

This extraordinary body oil leaves your skin luminous and buttery smooth is recommend to be applied just after you step out of the shower or bath.

A perfect body exfoliator that does the tough job of removing dead and rough skin as well as hydrating it after a long day in the sand.

metallica is in your face (actually, on your butt)

The heavy rock band, Metallica, has partnered with the beach/surf/skate brand, Billabong. They've designed these trunks for male fans of all ages. They come in white (shown) and in black. The white trunks are actually nice and easy on the eyes. The black is a little more rough. I'm curious to see who will be sporting these this summer.

What do you think? Leave a comment below.

sandal flask, seriously!

Recently Reef, the creators of the bottle opener flip flop, released the flask flip flop. Nestled in the sole of this marvel is a fun, little flask. High school beach boys and frat-tastic whiskey drinking tailgaters are going to love this!!! Honestly, I wish I could have worn these when I was in college. Keep up the good work Reef!

beach girls band?

You'd have to be living under a rock to have not heard of Miley Cyrus. For those that don't follow the teen pop sensation, you may not be aware that the star and her best friend have a hugely popular reality show that runs on YouTube: The Miley and Mandy Show. The home made reality show follows Miley and her best friend/backup dancer Mandy Jiroux. Soon, Mandy will be dropping an album with her troop, The Beach Girls. The girl group will be releasing their album this summer. Miley described The Beach Girls as "Pussycat Dolls meet Spice Girls...but age appropriate". Watch out for those beachy tunes sure to hit the airwaves soon!

mad for madras

Madras is a classic warm-weather fabric, but this spring it’s popping up in new ways all over the place. For example, it makes a great blazer (très Andre 3000) and makes an otherwise normal oxford shirt spicy. If you just want to dip your toe in the madras waters, a skinny belt does the trick. But our favorite rendition is a Rugby by Polo is loving the long, breezy skirt. But our favorite rendition is the mini madras skirt. Always preppy and perfect at the beach, pool, country club, brunch or just a day out and about. Madras makes us feel like summer is just around the corner, even when we pair it with boots so our feet don’t get wet in the slush.

twelve weeks till summer!

Spring has hit LA and summer is around the corner. Twelve weeks and counting!

getting beach ready

Hitting the gym? Watching what you eat? Training for spring break? Whether your trying to get in shape for your next beach vacation or not, most of us would like to look our best in a bikini or a pair of trunks. When our motivation is lacking, sometimes a good spa service can shape up the abs or help us loose those final pounds.

Spa's offer more than just facials and massages. A great way to try out new services, such as a full body ultrasonic detox, an airbrush tan, or endermology treatment, is during spa week. This great promotion is offered in many cities four times a year. For one week each season, local spas offer their services for only $50. A 60 minute massage that often costs $150 or more will only be $50 during this special week. Spa week offers you a great opportunity to enjoy new treatments, try new spas, and revitalize your winter skin.

Spa week is taking place in the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, D.C., Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington. Visit the website for participating spas and to book an appointment.
